Cache — Complete Preparation Guide

Cache is the single biggest change this season. Overpass rewarded map control, layered CT aggression, and patient rotations. Cache plays differently: the game revolves around mid control, site splits, fast trades, and punishing poor utility usage. Teams that adapt quickly will win the early season.

Essential Callouts to Learn

  • A side: A Main, Squeaky Door, Forklift, Quad, Headshot
  • Mid: Mid control areas, Highway, Garage
  • B side: B Main, Vents, Heaven, CT

Pre-Season Practice Checklist

  1. Memorise all callouts before queuing Premier.
  2. Practice mid smoke and garage utility lineups.
  3. Study common boost spots on mid, highway, and B areas.
  4. Learn A Main flash timings and Squeaky Door entry approaches.
  5. Practice B-site retakes from Heaven and CT positions.
  6. Clear common angles: Forklift, Quad, Default plant, Headshot angle.
  7. Review post-plant positioning for difficult round recoveries.

Cache rewards clean teamplay over individual fragging. A single well-timed flash through A Main opens the site; a late mid lurk collapses a CT rotation. Keep your utility usage simple and predictable for your teammates, and the map becomes significantly easier to navigate.

CS Rating Reset — What to Expect

Season 5 launched with a hard reset: all players started at zero and needed placement matches to establish a new visible CS Rating. The first week is intentionally volatile — high-elo and low-elo players share early lobbies, so lobbies are less predictable than usual mid-season.

  • Play placement matches early to lock in your rating before the field stabilises.
  • Avoid grinding for the Season 4 medal on the final day — 25 Premier wins and a visible CSR were required before the reset.
  • Early-season wins carry more placement weight, so performance in the first days matters more than grinding volume later.

Weapon Meta — Season 5

Valve announced no weapon balance changes for Season 5. The rifle and pistol meta from Season 4 carries over. Priority weapons remain:

Category Priority Weapons
Rifles (T side) AK-47, Galil AR, FAMAS
Rifles (CT side) M4A1-S, M4A4
Sniper AWP
Pistols Desert Eagle, USP-S

No significant shifts are expected at launch. Monitor Valve patch notes — balance updates can arrive mid-season independently of seasonal releases.

Anti-Cheat — Season 5 Status

No anti-cheat changes were announced alongside Season 5. VAC and VACNET remain unchanged. Community concerns around suspicious account detection and matchmaking quality persist — watch official Valve channels for any mid-season announcements on this front.

Season 5 Rewards & Medal

Valve has not confirmed the full Season 5 reward structure at launch. Based on prior seasons: completing 25 Premier wins and maintaining a visible CS Rating by the end of the season is the standard path to earning the Commemorative Medal. Do not leave this until the final days — play steadily throughout the season and the medal takes care of itself.
