Mythic+ Boost Guide: Keys, Timers, Loot and the Vault
Updated 9 Aug 2026 · By Marcus Feld
Mythic+ is the beating heart of endgame World of Warcraft for players who love dungeons. It turns eight-player content into an infinitely scaling challenge with escalating rewards, and it is one of the most popular things to buy a carry for. Before you order, it helps to understand exactly what you are paying for.
How Mythic+ works
Mythic+ takes a normal Mythic dungeon and adds a keystone that sets a difficulty level. Every level increases enemy health and damage and, at certain thresholds, layers on affixes that change how packs behave. A group of five runs the dungeon against a clock. Higher keys mean harder pulls, tighter margins and, importantly, better loot.
Key levels and timers
Each dungeon has a par time. Completing the key inside that time is a timed run; finishing over it is untimed, sometimes called depleting the key. The distinction matters:
- A timed run raises your keystone one or more levels and increases your Mythic+ rating more.
- An untimed completion still awards loot and a Vault slot, but your key drops a level and your rating gain is smaller.
- Beating the timer by a wide margin can upgrade the key by two or three levels at once.
Your personal Mythic+ rating is the score that reflects your best runs across all dungeons in the pool, and it is the number most milestones and boosts are measured against.
Keystone Master and seasonal rewards
Two rating goals dominate what most players chase each season. Keystone Master is the mid-tier target that awards the seasonal recolor mount and a title, and in recent seasons it has sat at a rating of 2,000. Above that, Keystone Hero and Keystone Legend reward higher achievements and end-of-season titles at 2,500 and 3,000 rating respectively. These thresholds are consistent enough across seasons that they anchor most carry listings, though Blizzard can adjust them, so always check the current season.
The Great Vault
The Great Vault is the weekly reward chest, and it is a major reason players push keys at all. Your Mythic+ activity fills up to three dungeon slots based on how many keys you complete during the week:
- Complete one Mythic+ dungeon to unlock the first slot.
- Complete four to unlock the second.
- Complete eight to unlock the third.
The item level offered in each slot scales with the highest keys you timed or completed that week, so running a few high keys is more valuable than grinding many low ones. Each Tuesday reset you pick one reward from the choices the Vault presents. Note that the Vault only ever offers loot the game rolls for you, so a carry can fill your slots but cannot promise a specific item.
What a Mythic+ carry includes
A typical Mythic+ boost is sold in one of a few shapes, and knowing which you need saves money.
- Single key runs at a chosen level, for gearing or a quick timed clear.
- Rating packages that push you to a target such as 2,000 for Keystone Master or higher for the elite titles.
- Vault packages of eight completed dungeons in a week to max out your three Vault slots.
Most stores offer both self-play, where you play your own character alongside the team, and piloted, where a professional plays for you. For anything rating-related, self-play is the safer choice because it avoids sharing account access. Expect to be asked for your role, spec, item level and realm, and be ready to run the group’s preferred add-ons if you are playing yourself.
Buying smart
Confirm three things before you pay: the exact key level or rating you will end at, whether the run is guaranteed timed, and whether loot is yours to keep. A run guaranteed timed at a specific level is a real, deliverable promise. A specific trinket or mount from a random pool is not. If a listing blurs that line, ask questions or move on. Done right, a Mythic+ boost turns a frustrating grind into a fast, reliable route to the gear, rating and mounts you actually want.
